Turkey's wishes and ambitions force them to reform and modernise their laws ans institutions. Efforts made are partly compensated because the economy is growing fast. Meanwhile, the country is improving other aspects of the society including human rights, health care and education. But other issues remain and could put to a stand still the turkish-european relationships as it is the case with Cyprus. Turkey does not recognise Cyprus, a member of the European Union, and the relaionshipe between the two states may damage Turkey.
